John Robinson resumes his role as Technical Director within the Florida Knights after being announced as head coach of PDL Team SWFL Adrenaline. Robinson has over 450 professional career games at the highest level of English soccer and will continue to spearhead the Knights growth in the SWFL community. 

Director of Coaching Luke Voyce will continue to oversee coach and player development within the club. Voyce will also be tasked with various administration roles at the Florida Knights. Voyce holds a UEFA B license coaching award and is an ex Chelsea FC academy coach. 

The core group of coaches returning for the upcoming season include GPS International coaches Danny Fahey, and Ryan Fox, while key local coaches Brandon Bennett, and Robby Gemert will continue to build upon the foundations they established last season. Cameron Yearsley will return as the club SAQ coach.

New high profile coaches include Pete Thomas, Chris Pinot, SWFL Adrenaline players Sean McKinney, Steve Mizesko, and new Florida Knights GK Director Jahdea Gildrin. Julianne Herrity returns to the US as she finished her collegiate studies in the UK. Herrity will be an important part of the girls program as she takes two premier teams. 

"We are delighted with our coaching additions," said Director of Coaching Luke Voyce. "Chris and Pete will add a wealth of experience and knowledge at the senior boys age groups as we look to continue our extensive college placement program. At the younger ages Sean, Steve, and Jahdea will add energy, and experience as we look to set solid foundations for the future."

The U13 team ranked #29 in Florida battled hard against Florida Fire Juniors to earn a 1-1 in their first game. Comfortable victories against Plantation SC, and Tropical SC set up a rematch with FFJ in the championship game. The teams could not be separated during regulation time and double OT. The U13 Lady Knight's held their nerve to record their first championship of the season.

The BU9’s finished the season playing their best soccer. After a fine comeback (2-2) against Florida Fire U9’s, the Knights lost exciting games 3-2, and 3-1 in an entertaining weekend.

The U11 North Fort Myers Knights crowned a fantastic season by finishing as Runner Up in the Florida Fire Juniors Spring Classic. They battled hard in the final losing 2-1 to Naples FC All Star team.

Florida Knights U12 Boys played up in a U13 bracket to aid their transition into 11v11 next season. They played their usual brand of stylish, passing soccer winning many admirers over the course of the weekend finishing with a 0-2-1 record.

The BU13 Florida Knights suffered a traumatic start to their tournament losing 6-0 and 5-0 to very strong state cup sides. The Knights restored a some pride beating Region C and Presidents Cup winners San Carlos 2-1 on Sunday morning.

The U14 Florida Lady Knights showed well over the weekend playing attractive soccer in a strong bracket finishing with a 1-2-0 record.

The Florida Knights were represented by the BU8, GU10, BU10, GU11, and the GU12's. Both of the U10 teams played up in difficult U11 brackets to aid their transition into 8v8 next season. The U12 Girls played in a special bracket designed for transition into the full sided format of the game (11v11). 

The U8 Knights missed out on another Championship game after a tight loss in the Semi Final. Both teams were evenly matched for long periods but the U9 Cape Coral team took their chances and held on for the win. 

The U10 Boys had a positive weekend recording a win, tie, and a defeat in the U11 Gold Division. After starting with a poor 6-0 defeat the Knights, held on for a credible 3-3 tie with FC Sarasota, before beating San Carlos 2-1 in their final game. 

The U10 Girls suffered three tough losses as they came up against some of Region C's top sides. The girls never gave up, and won many admirers for trying to play their brand of attractive passing soccer.

After a fantastic turnaround since January the U11 Girls continued their impressive run by making the Championship game in Sarasota. After winning a tight Semi Final 1-0 against a strong Houston Dynamo Tampa team, the Florida Knights suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to a very talented Cape Coral team.

"It is great to see teams looking ahead to next season" said Director of Coaching Luke Voyce. "Many of our teams in 'transition years' have had experience of playing a new format in the spring, whether it's 8v8 or 11v11. Player development is at the forefront of every decision we make as a soccer club, and I am pleased our teams have faired well in Sarasota."

Fort Myers, FL - Thursday 11th of April 2013; Players and Parents of the Florida Knights were treated to a wealth of knowledge as GPS executed their first College Liaison Evening. Representatives from the U14/U15/U16 Girls, and U15/U17 Boys were guided through the first steps of their college application process by FPS General Manager Graham Munro, DOC of the Florida Knights Luke Voyce, and Special Guest Speaker Bob Butehorn, Head Coach of the FGCU Men’s Team. 

Mr Butehorn’s resume includes over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, but his work at FGCU has arguably been his finest. Butehorn has guided the Eagles to a 47-36-8 overall record, including a 28-14-2 mark in the A-Sun. Under his direction, FGCU have spent a number of weeks in the national rankings by multiple media outlets, landing as high as No. 14 in the country at the start of the 2011 campaign. In just five seasons as men’s soccer head coach, Bob Butehorn has built the FGCU program from the ground up, growing it into a rising program in the South Region, leading it to consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championships and an NCAA Tournament appearance in its first year of eligibility in 2011.

Mr Munro’s resume starts with an impressive NSCAA Division 1 All American Honor from his time at D1 Binghamton University. Munro then served as an Assistant Coach for a season working the day to day office role, and being an integral part of the on field coaching staff. Munro continued his playing career for the MPS Cape Cod Crusaders in the PDL whilst serving as the college liaison contact for Massachusetts Premier Soccer in Waltham, MA. Munro moved into the General Manager role at Florida Premier Soccer last year. 

54 players and parents from the Florida Knights engaged in a very positive first GPS College Liaison Evening. Mr Butehorn provided an in depth synopsis of how to make your decision on your chosen college. Butehorn also described the rigours and the time management skills needed to juggle student athlete responsibilities as he gave insightful and amusing stories from his experiences in the collegiate game, as a player, and as a coach. 

The overriding message from the evening from both Mr Butehorn, and Mr Munro was simple; "You get out what you put in."
Be organized, be smart, be ambitious, and most importantly - start the process as early as possible. The more time you invest now, the more options you will have later.

After a successful Saturday with both teams negotiating difficult semi-final match ups, the Florida Knights were poised to secure a first Division 1 Region C Championship. 

The U11 Boys were in fantastic form against a strong team from Tampa Bay United. After sustained pressure on the TBU goal; the Knights ran out deserving 2-0 winners to set up a final against FC Lutz.

Lutz comfortably saw off challengers from West Pascoe in their Semi Final winning 3-0. The Florida Knights were defeated 5-0 in the final, as their Region C challenge came to an end. Congratulations to the U11 Boys team who add their 2nd place finish in Region Cup to their tournament success last weekend at the SWFL Tournament. 

The U12 Boys needed extra time to defeat Lakeland FC on Saturday. After a stunning strike late in regulation time put the Knights 3-2 up, Lakeland equalised with a thunderbolt of their own to tie the game at 3-3. The game moved into over time with both sides creating chances to win the game. Minutes before half time the Knights won a penatly which was emphatically dispatched. After a few nervous moments late on the Florida Knights held on to record a thrilling victory. 

Florida Celtics won through in a frantic PK shootout against the much fancied Clearwater Chargers. 

The Knights battled hard in their Championship game but were overpowered by a strong, technical Celtics team eventually losing 4-1. 

The U13 Girls failed to make the finals after losing (2-0) a tough semi-final to eventual winners Cape Coral. 

Congratulations to all Southwest Florida teams who recorded victories over the 16th and 17th of March. 
Cape Coral finished with 6 Region C Champions, Florida Fire Juniors and San Carlos Scorpions had 2 winners, Lee County Strikers, and Bonita Springs both had 1 champion.

The date confirmed is Wednesday the 10th of April, at the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Myers Airport/FGCU (16410 Corporate Commerce Way, Fort Myers, Florida). The event will start at 7.00pm with guest speakers Graham Munro (NCAA Division 1 All American), and Florida Knights Director of Coaching Luke Voyce. 

Florida Knights players receive access to support materials which provide an overview of becoming a student athlete,  timelines within the application process and correct protocol for contacting a college coach.

GPS has a partnership with College Soccer Advantage (CSA) which provides players access to CSA resources and discounts to CSA services including their online mentorship program.

In recent years GPS have launched Mass Premier Soccer, Maine Premier Soccer, New York Premier Soccer, New Hampshire Premier Socccer, and Florida Premier Soccer. As the growth and reach of the GPS organization grows players interested in colleges in different areas of the country can utilize the GPS network of coaches and partners.

The recently crowned SWFL Tournament champions qualified for the Final Four after closing out a nail-biting encounter against top seed Everton FC. After the Knights raced into a 3-0 lead, they controlled the rest of the first half with a fluid passing display. Everton sprung into life midway through the second half scoring two quick goals to ensure a nervous final few minutes for the Florida Knights. The U11’s hung on to claim a deserved 3-2 victory and book their place in the Division 1 Region C Cup Semi Finals.

The Florida Knights will face 3^rd seed Tampa Bay United at 8.00am on Saturday the 16^th of March.

After qualifying for the Region C Cup Quarter Finals via a wildcard, the U12 Boys justified their inclusion with a professional performance against Clearwater Chargers CLW. After a goalless first half, and a few golden opportunities squandered, the Florida Knights found their rhythm after the break and scored 2 unanswered goals. They progress to the Division 1 Region C Cup Semi Finals at Kelly Road, Fort Myers.

Number 1 seed Lakeland Futbol Club will be their opponents at 12.00pm in a fascinating match up.  

The U11 North Fort Myers Knights continued their incredible progression after they built on their dominant display in the 1^st round going 3-0-0. Local rivals Florida Fire Junior turned up the heat on the Knights in a thrilling encounter. NFM eventually lost 2-1 but can hold their heads high in spirit after a great Region C Cup run.

The U11 Girls lost out 1-0 to a very talented team from West Florida Flames after they dominated group play going 3-0-0 in the 1^st Round.

The U15 Boys also lost out by a single goal in a great display against Tampa Dynamo. After taking a deserved lead, two late goals ended the Knight’s impressive Region C Cup campaign.

While FC America stole the show by becoming Disney Club Champions for a second year in a row. However, it was the performance of the Florida Knights which was the most pleasing. 

The SWFL team took 9 premier teams from U8 - U15 to the Weston Showcase in search of more silverware in what has been an incredible first season. 

The U8 Boys were crowned champions, the U13 Boys lost on PK’s in a thrilling final, and the U14 produced their best soccer of the season to finish as Silver Division Runner’s Up. 

The Florida Knights U8 Boys were in dominant mood as they defeated teams from Cooper City, Sunrise, and Weston. The Future stars scored an impressive 18 goals in their 3 group games only allowing 4. A comfortable 4-0 victory in the final earned the boys their 5th title win of the season.

Following on from a tough Region C Cup campaign the previous weekend the U13 Florida Knights bounced back with an improved performance in Weston. After losing their first game 2-1 in a close encounter, dominant displays against West Pines and Kendall ensured the team a wildcard into the semi-finals. An early goal and a committed defensive display secured a final match up with Greater Boca United, who won their semi final 8-0. The U13 Boys produced a fantastic team effort against a superior technical side, and took the game all the way to PK’s. In a nail biting climax to the game the Florida Knights lost out in sudden death spotkicks. 

Coach Gemert’s U14 Florida Lady Knights also produced some excellent soccer in Weston as they prepared for their Region C Cup adventure. After a hard fought 0-0 shutout against Team Boca, the Lady Knights followed up impressive wins against Weston and Miami Shores to clinch top spot, and gaurantee a place in Monday’s final against Wellington. After an early goal of real quality Florida Knights raced into an early lead. However, the physical, direct approach of Wellington was too much for the girls as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat. 

The Referee Grade 8 Entry Level Course is the most popular course for all ages. This eighteen (18) hour USSF national course offers complete basic instruction and prepares an individual to become a USSF Soccer Referee. FSR, as a national leader in developing referee instructional programs, understands and supports the importance of "distance or online education" as pioneered by higher educational institutions. As a result FSR has separated this course into a reduced ten (10) hour classroom participation with the balance in online educational modules which may be completed by individual students at their home and at their pace and time. FSR requires that the online instructional modules be completed prior to the classroom instruction since failure to do so will most definitely adversely affect the successful negotiation of the final test for this Referee Grade 8 Entry Level Course by the individual student.

Complete instructions are available on the registration page and will be emailed to each student by the course administrator. Satisfactory completion of the course and the final test will prepare the student for certification as a USSF Soccer Referee Grade 8.

Standout performances from the weekend were the U11, and U12 Boys, and the U11, and U13 Girls who all negotiated tough brackets to ensure they advanced from the first round.

The U11 boys started well on Saturday with a deserved 1-0 win against a very strong Clearwater Chargers. In their second game a well organized West Pascoe defeated the Knights 2-0. Needing a win in their final game the Florida Knights saved their best performance for last defeating CPUSA Spartans 4-0 to secure a wildcard, and a place in the quarter finals.

The U11 Florida Lady Knights were the only team in the club to manage a 100% record with 3 victories. Classy 1-0 and 6-0 wins were followed by a fantastic display against current league winners Nature Coast Lightning. After a tricky start to the game the girls pulled through with an eventual 2-1 victory seeing them progress to the finals as group winners.

The dreaded ’group of death’ proved too much for the U12 Girls as they bravely battled against two powerhouse teams from Region C.  Tampa Bay United (CDL Winners), and Auburndale (USA D1 Winners) proved tough competition as the Florida Knights finished with a respectable 0-1-2 record. 

The U12 Boys had to nervously wait after their final game to see if the soccer gods were smiling on them. They attained a wildcard spot after having a superior goal difference. A comprehensive 5-1 win against North Port saw the U12 Boys well placed Saturday evening. Due to a host of missed chances they lost their second game and had to wait to see if they had done enough to advance. The Boys now face a tricky game against Lakeland in the quarter finals.

 The U13 Boys were also handed a tricky group. All of the teams the U13’s had to face had already beaten them this season in either USA D1, or in latter stages of a tournament. After a last minute winner against VSI Everton a mouthwatering local derby against San Carlos would set up a desicive game against USA D1 Champions Winterhaven. San Carlos won 2-0 and dominated a poor Florida Knights team. An improved performance in their final game saw them finish with a respectable 1-1-1 record from a group that could have easily housed the Region C Cup winners. 

Florida Lady Knights U13 started slowly losing to a very talented U12 Brandon team. Victories in their remaining group games (4-1 and 5-0) saw the Knights secure 2nd spot, and gain qualification to the Final Four. They will face local rivals Cape Coral who gained qualification by topping their group. 

"I am incredibly proud by the achievements of our Junior teams this weekend" said Director of Coaching Luke Voyce. "Having four out of six teams qualify for the final stages of a major tournament is a fantastic achieivement. If you also consider the feats of our U9 and U10 teams at the Region C Festival you can see we are developing some exciting players/teams for the future."

The 2nd round of Region Cup will take place on the 9th and 10th of March, followed a week later by the finals on the 16th and 17th.

Coaching Assignments For Super Y League 2013

The Super Y League season typically runs from the beginning of June, through July, and towards the end of August. There will be between 8 – 14 games with varying distance of travel.

The Florida Knights will train once a week throughout the season, with training starting in May.

Games are scheduled over the weekends; however the coach has the ability to move these at the start of the season. For example the Florida Knights could play FFJ on a Tuesday evening as they are local. Coaches are also encouraged to play two games in a weekend if they are travelling long distances to save on costs etc.

The fee is $350 per player which covers everything from admin and registration to referee fees. Please note there is a uniform fee of $100 attached for non-Florida Knights players.

All teams will be playing an 11v11 format, and as a result we anticipate taking 18 – 26 players on a roster. We understand that families have vacations and prior commitments during the summer.

 The Region C Cup Festival saw future stars compete from U9 & U10 in a friendly environment over the weekend of the 2^nd and 3^rd of February. The U9’s were housed at the impressive 24 field facility at Lakewood Ranch, and the U10’s travelled to the home of FYSA in Auburndale.

The U9 boys started off the weekend very strongly posting a 9-1 win over Tampa Newcastle. They were 3-0 up at half time in their second game and playing magnificent soccer. Due to tiring legs and a much better showing from their opponents from Tampa, the U9’s succumbed to a 5-3 defeat.

After a good night’s sleep, and plenty of rest, a rejuvenated U9 team beat a very strong team from Brandon 4-1. The U9’s finished with a terrific record of 2-1-0. A fantastic achievement from a team who only had six players available for the entire weekend.

The U10 girls had a perfect weekend recording three wins and scoring seventeen goals in their three games. After an impressive performance in Orlando the week before, the U10 Girls recorded two 5-1 victories on Saturday against Winter Haven, and First Hernando Heat. With two wins out of two and a perfect record a win would guarantee them a Championship medal. Lakeland provided little test for our girls as they strolled into a 7-1 lead shortly after halftime. Well done to all involved with the U10 Florida Lady Knights this weekend.

The U10 boys also started the weekend with a thumping 7-1 victory against Sarasota FC. A compelling match with Plant City ended in a narrow defeat. Both sides exchanged early goals to leave the game evenly balanced. Two late goals from Plant City sealed a heartbreaking 3-2 loss. A host of missed opportunities and inspired goalkeeping saw their final group game result in a 2-2 tie. Despite not posting a win in their final two games, the performance of the U10 Boys deserves great credit against tough opposition.

Congratualtions to our Boys U8 team who placed first in the U9 Premier division. They were crowned champions on Sunday afternoon after a good display against FC America U9 Premier. The Florida Knights 04/05 team defeated competition from Ponte Vedra, Tampa Bay United, and Maitland SC on the way to a perfect 4-0-0 record.

The North Fort Myers Florida Knights U13 Boys also had a perfect record as won the U13 Elite Division. Florida Knights started the tournament well defeating Orlando City U13 Boys 6-2. Tight victories against Maitland Gosa, and Tampa Bay United set up the Championship game on Sunday afternoon. Maitland Dynamo provided a tough test, as the Florida Knights hung on to claim a fantastic 2-0 victory. 

The NFM U13 Girls pushed Ponte Vedra all the way to OT in their championship game. One goal was the difference between two evenly matched teams in the girls U13 final. 

"All teams that traveled to Orlando did the Florida Knights proud this weekend" said Director Of Coaching Luke Voyce. "Our junior teams are very exciting, and continue to play a positive brand of soccer. Bringing home two Championships from a very competitive tournament is particularly pleasing, as I know we are moving in the right direction as a club."

The Florida Knights will be hosting their own tournament series at the multi-million dollar complex in Fort Myers. With committments from teams based out of New Hampshire, Massachusettes, Maine, New York, and Vermont the GPS Junior Labor Day Showcase is set to be a huge success in its first year.

The Florida Knights are delighted to announce they will be participating in the nationally recognized United Soccer League program this summer. The Florida Knights have aligned themselves with Super Y League as both entities are dedicated to provide an optimum environment for talented soccer players to excel. 

The Florida Knights joins a select group of the top clubs in Florida and around the country, and will compete in the highly competitive Southeast Division with super clubs such as Weston SC, Kendall SC, FC America, Orlando City, and Tampa Bay United.

Tryouts will be held at the Bayshore Soccer Complex on Friday the 1^st of February at the times listed below.

Coaching Assignments For Super Y League 2013

The Super Y League season typically runs from the beginning of June, through July, and towards the end of August. There will be between 8 – 14 games with varying distance of travel.

The Florida Knights will train once a week throughout the season, with training starting in May.

Games are scheduled over the weekends; however the coach has the ability to move these at the start of the season. For example the Florida Knights could play FFJ on a Tuesday evening as they are local. Coaches are also encouraged to play two games in a weekend if they are travelling long distances to save on costs etc.

The fee is $350 per player which covers everything from admin and registration to referee fees. Please note there is a uniform fee of $100 attached for non-Florida Knights players.

All teams will be playing an 11v11 format, and as a result we anticipate taking 18 – 26 players on a roster. We understand that families have vacations and prior commitments during the summer.

Global Premier Soccer already have 14 National Youth Titles and with the recent addition of the Florida Knights GPS looks to deliver a much anticipated national title to SWFL.

The regular season runs from June - August, and teams try to qualify for the Super Y National Finals held in Tampa in December.

The players participated in an on field session in-between the Giallorossi’s winter training workouts and, in addition, were given VIP seating to view the afternoon first team practice session and priority access to get photos and autographs both prior and post session.  The travelling AS Roma first team party also presented the players with club gift-bags as part of the experience.

“As we continue to build on our international partnership with AS Roma, we were delighted to bring the leading U11 and U12 players in the state to participate in an event where they were given the opportunity to rub shoulders with the current first team squad and coaching staff,” said FPS General Manager Graham Munro.  “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the AS Roma party for their hospitality at the base of their winter training camp.”

The 24 players were selected from a series of player identification clinics where the GPS AS Roma Academy (Florida) staff evaluated over 120 players from Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Fort Myers and other areas across the state.

The players also featured in an interview for AS Roma TV and have appeared in pictures on the AS Roma official website and official AS Roma Twitter feed.

IMG Academy - Bradenton, December 11th, 2012

Shayla Smart’s two first half goals were all FC America needed in cruising to a 2-0 victory against the Kalamazoo Kingdom to win the 2012 Super Y-League North American Finals championship on Tuesday morning at IMG Academy. 

Often is the case in championship games for teams to play conservatively while shaking off nervous jitters. FC America and the Kalamazoo Kingdom had no such agenda. Both squads came out flying forward with several chances at both ends.

"I was a little worried that the nerves would get to us," FC America head coach Scott Brody said. "These are very big games. And it’s big games right in a row. We are an attacking team. We want to play that way. We want to go forward and try and make things happen." 

Kalamazoo had a chance to jump out in front as Samantha Williams found Sophia Terzes whose deft flick rolled just to the left of Julia Curatolo’s post. Kalamazoo built momentum with Terzes and Riley Tanner combining well on several occasions.

It was, however, FC America that would strike first. Curatolo sent the ball down field from her own box. The high, bounding ball created problems for the Kingdom defense and when Megan Przybysz was unable to clear, Smart pounced. Lauren Kozal came out but Smart got a foot to the ball first and poked into the net for a 1-0 lead. 

The goal lifted FC America as they pushed forward looking to extend the lead. Nine minutes later, Smart had her second and FC America had one foot in the door. The quick, skilled striker weaved through three defenders in tight space to the touchline. Her flash across frame deflected off a defender into the net past a helpless Kozal.

Trailing 2-0 Kalamazoo tried desperately to take a hold of the game and climb back in but it just wasn’t to be. FC America’s defense held firm throughout the day limiting any serious chances for the Kingdom. As it was, the day belonged to Smart and Co. as the Orlando-based club earned a happy drive home to central Florida.

"The girls were amazing," said Brody. From the moment the whistle blew their heart and their passion was tremendous. I’m lucky to have this bunch."

Both teams entered the game unbeaten going 3-0 in group play advancing through the semifinals with one-goal victories.

The much decorated USWNT completed an incredible season with good display against China PR, taking their seasonal record to 28-1-3.

An integral part of the team has been Defensive Centre Midfielder Shannon Boxx, who began her career with GPS team, the Boston Renegades in 1999. Boxx has made 180 appearances for the USWNT and has scored 25 goals. Boxx was an ever-present when the USWNT were crowned champions during the 2012 Olympic Games, held in London. 

The U.S. Women’s National Team defeated China PR 4-1 in front of 10,493 fans on Saturday evening.
Abby Wambach scored her 151st and 152nd career goals, Megan Rapinoe and Sydney Leroux also scored in the comfortable win.

The U13 Lady Knights have also been in dominant form this season, leading the way in the USA League two with 6 wins and 2 ties. They will be attending the FPS/FCA Pre-Season Classic in January, and also the Weston Showcase in preparation for their Region C Cup campaign.

While most teams from the North Fort Myers Florida Knights were enjoying left over turkey, three standout teams travelled to Plantation for the 26th Annual Thanksgiving Classic. 

On the boys side Florida Knights were represented by the U10's, and the unbeaten U12's. The U12 Florida Lady Knights completed the trio. All three teams have enjoyed league success in SWFL this fall. 

The U10 boys are currently third in the SWFL League, and have showed well in local tournaments. The U12 Boys are sitting top of the league in the USA Division 2A, having played four and won four scoring 20 goals. They also recorded a fantastic Labor Day victory in Clearwater earlier on in the year. The U12 Lady Knights are on a 5 game win streak which see's them place second in USA Division 1. 

The U12 Lady Knights continued their great league form by winning all of their group games in Plantation. They started strongly against local favourites Coral Springs winning 5-1 on Friday. A confident 3-0 victory against PBSA Nomads was followed by a 2-0 win against GBYSA Boca United. Unfortunately despite winning all three games, scoring 10, and allowing one, the girls missed out by goal differential. 

The U10 Boys were real entertainers over thanksgiving weekend amassing a total of 22 goals in their 3 games. After a promising start against Acreage Arsenal they were pegged back to a thrilling 4-4 tie on Friday. Florida Knights U10 Premier finished the weekend unbeaten producing some fantastic attacking displays. The Knights tied 4-4 with eventual winners Hollywood Wildcats, and finished with a strong display against Miami Shores, finishing 3-3. 

The U12 Florida Knights team came into the Thanksgiving tournament unbeaten in 14 games. They were placed in the top bracket with Miami Strike Force, Weston, and eventual champions Team Boca. North Fort Myers started poorly and found themselves 2-0 down within five minutes. After sustained pressure the score was tied at 2-2, until the last kick of the game saw Weston win 3-2. In the second game the U12 Florida Knights Premier started slowly again and were 2-0 down within seven minutes. A terrific technical display saw Team Boca win 5-0. The Florida Knights improved for the final game and produced a much better display against Miami Strike Force losing 4-2. 

Although no silverware was brought home to SWFL with the Florida Knights, valuable experience playing against the best teams in the state continues to see good progress on the field. 

Congratulations also go to Austin Alley, and Adam Henry for successfully guest playing with Weston U11 Boys in their thrilling Plantation cup run.

The AS Roma ID Program targets 11 and 12 year old male players and is provided at no cost to the player. 

 Ft Myers, Fl - 15th November; North Fort Myers Florida Knights have continued their commitment to their senior athletes by announcing extra training for High School students. 

With the typically intense High School program the NFM Florida Knights will be hosting weekly sessions on Sundays at the JetBlue Park, Fort Myers. Emphasis will be solely on technical aspects of soccer to reinforce good habits.

"It's important that we offer extra sessions to our senior athletes," said Technical Director John Robinson. "Giving our athletes the chance to refine their skills will means they come back better players after the High School Break."

The modern soccer player is evolving, and GPS are committed to providing the optimum player development environment for their players. An expectation of Collegiate, Professional, and International soccer stars is for them to be comfortable using both feet. Very few exceptional players only use one foot. Messi, Ronaldo, and Rooney all score goals with their left, and right feet. Make positive steps forward with GPS, and your other foot.

Players are required to wear two socks; one white and one black.

The white sock for their ‘other foot’ and the black sock for their preferred foot. This will help the coach identify if the player is fully testing themselves, and using their other foot.

Randall is an incredibly gifted soccer player who has been struck down by a rare skin disease called Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Randall has been the focal point of the 99/00 FC America Premier team in recent years helping them to various State, National, and International recognition. 

He recently attended the iD2 Development Camp, is on the Region III ODP Team and is currently being considered for National Team inclusion. Randall made the iD2 All Star game, starting at center-back, where the top players from the camp competed in the final game. He has made the All Star game in both his iD2 camp appearances, and is considered one of the top center backs in the country.

"Randall is a very popular young man, and has a tremendous drive and passion for life. Fort Myers, Fla - 30th October 2012; The JetBlue Park was the 'Cauldren of Dreams' on Sunday the 28th of October, as teams participated in Soccerween. There were prizes for the best dressed teams, as well as the overall winners in U10, U12, and U14 brackets. 

Soccerween is a 1 day extravaganza of fun, laughs, and crazy costumes. Teams compete in fancy dress and play off in a unique soccer environment.

Teams from Sarasota, Tampa, and Bradenton made the journey down to Fort Myers to compete in this soccer tournament with a difference. There was also good local support from San Carlos, Sanibel, and Lehigh Lightning as they provided competitive teams.

One of our goals for the GPS Goalkeeping program will be to introduce a new training curriculum for all age groups. This curriculum will be a month-by-month progression for each goalkeeper. 

Through the commitment and hard work of our goalkeepers, GPS will set the bar high and lead by example in developing talented goalkeepers in SWFL.

Gilbert, (like last month’s winner Rullo) is an attack minded right defender, with inteligent distriubtion and an ability to get forward and support the teams offence. Gilbert is a formidable defender possessing a hard tackle, and a great desire to succeed.  

’Shelby has been a tremendous find,’ said NFM Florida Knight’s U16 Lady Knights Coach Ryan Fox. ’Shelby has improved some much in the last 8 weeks. She is always the first to arrive at training, and the last one to leave. She has a great attitude, and is a popular member of the team.’ 

The Cooper Hotels Player of the Month is voted for by the coaches, the Director of Coaching, and also the Technical Director. Monthly awards will be presented althoughout the season. Criteria for this award is simple; players who demonstrate outstanding commitment, attitude, and application in the field of soccer will be considered. At the end of the season there will be presentation to celebrate individual performances, as well as an overall NFM Florida Knights Player of the Year.

After the recent success of the Clearwater Labor Day Showcase, the North Fort Myers Florida Knights headed to Naples in search of more silverware. Nine teams from the NFM Florida Knights competitive program made the short journey on Columbus day weekend. 

The U11 Girls produced a commanding weekend of soccer overcoming all their opponents with a perfect record. The NFM Lady Knights scored 17 goals in 4 games, conceding only three. The Final was a closer affair with Florida Fire Juniors Red defeated 4-2. 

"The weekend was an unprecented success for everyone at the club," said Florida Knights Director of Coaching Luke Voyce.  "Producing three finalists from the boys program is a fantastic achievement. The U11 NFM Florida Knights Boys battled hard in the final against a competitive Nort Port side, eventually going down 2-1. 

The U12 NFM Florida KnightsBoys after leading 2-0 were clawed back to 2-2 by hosts Florida Fire, and suffered heartache losing on PK’s. 

The U13 NFM Florida KnightsBoys suffered the same fate as the U12’s. After leading #15 State ranked Florida Fire 1-0 for 60 minutes, a goal in the closing seconds took the game to PK’s, where the Knights failed to convert from 12 yards.

Although we are unable to predict the weather, coaches will all be following a strict set of guidelines to ensure the safety of their players.  

The club has recently purchased a SkyScan Lightning and Storm Detection device which will be present at the fields.

When the unit’s display indicates that lightning is present within eight (8) miles of the JetBlue Park, coaches will be informed to remove their  teams to a safe area.

Before resumption of activity, the SkyScan monitor will indicate that the danger of lightning has passed away from the location for a minimum of thirty (30) minutes. 

The Florida Knights staff will continue to meet forty five (45) minutes before the first sessions and monitor the potential for lightning for the evenings sessions.  

Obviously we would like to keep training on before bad weather intervenes. However, if we feel that the weather is too dangerous then we will contact you via the online RainedOut service 30 minutes prior to your session. 

We don’t realize how lucky we are, and we will continue to place your child’s best interests at the forefront of any decision we make as an organization.

The Knight’s were showcasing teams from U8, through to U14 on both the boys and girls side as they prepare to get ready for the junior season. 

"It was great to see teams from the Florida Fire, LeHigh, and the Strikers at our event" said NFM President Buddy Hawkins. "South West Florida should celebrate the talented teams and players this region produces, and today was a very positive spectacle. To see all of our teams playing against local clubs with such sportsmanship was a great feeling."

Stand out results over the weekend came from the U13 Boys, the U11 Girls, and also the U14 Girls. 

The U13 Boys continued their winning habits by producing a good team performance against a bigger, stronger U14 LeHigh Lightning side.

The Knight’s started brightly and moved the ball well from defense, to attack, creating some great chances. The U13’s showed they were no push overs matching up to a very physical Lightning team. The Knight’s kept up the pressure in the second half and continued to create chances running out eventual 7-0 winners.

The U11 girls produced another solid display of attacking talent to continue their good run of form. The girls passed the ball well and gave the opposition defence headaches with their movement off the ball, this resulted in a 5-3 win against the Florida Fire.

The U14 Girls rallied together in a tough game against Lee County Strikers. The two evenly matched teams battled hard and both teams had chances to win the game. It came down to a peice of individual brilliance to win the game in the final moments of a breathtaking game.

The Florida Knights would like to announce the club will launch programs for players of the youngest ages starting in October, 2012.

Held at the Jet-Blue complex, the licensed, professional coaching staff of the Florida Knights will be conducting First Touch (designed for 3 & 4 year olds) and Kick Start (designed for 5 & 6 year olds) programs.

“We are excited to welcome new and future Florida Knights players into our club with a program designed to give children of the youngest ages an early introduction to the game,” said Florida Knights Director of Coaching Luke Voyce.  “The six week programs will introduce fundamentals in an active and positive learning environment."

First Touch is a 6-week program for 3 and 4 year olds where players will receive an incredible introduction to soccer.  Sessions last for 45 minutes and with a ratio of no more than 8 players for every GPS instructor, allowing players to get maximum attention. 

The curriculum is designed around introducing movement skills and Soccer FUNdamentals using a variety of techniques and age-appropriate equipment.  All players receive an FPS shirt and parents are invited to get involved in the sessions.

Kick Start is a 6-week program designed for 5 and 6 year olds and is open to players who are new to the game or may have already participated in soccer programs. Our expert staff will take players through games that introduce the basics of soccer techniques in a fun and exciting environment.  Sessions last for 60 minutes and at the end of each session the group will finish with a mini game.  All players will receive a FPS shirt as part of the program.

Ft Myers, FL - 10th September; Florida Knights would like to invite keen soccer players of Lee County to attend their first soccer fun day. School is closed on Monday the 17th of September due to a religious holiday. 

Drop your child off at 8.00am with professionally licensed coaches, and pick them up at 3.00pm. There is no need for a babysitter or a nanny, or even taking your child to work, as the professional coaches will be on hand for the whole day. 

The professional international coaches of the Florida Knights will offer a unique learning environment for your child, and their friends in a high paced, fun filled, energized day of soccer. With a small sided world cup tournament, individual skills competitons, and prizes to be won it is the perfect place for beginers or experienced soccer players.
