Fort Myers, Fla - 3rd September 2012; The North Fort Myers Florida Knights are celebrating an excellent weekend. The Southwest Florida club travelled to Lakewood Ranch, FL for the Tampa Bay Labor Day Showcase and definately put the Region C5 team on the soccer map. 

Ten premier teams made the journey up to Lakewood Ranch in the NFM Florida Knight’s first competitive venture as a club. After stong displays from all of Knights competitive teams, the newly established competitive club finished the weekend with a combined total of 16 wins, 7 ties, and 10 losses. The NFM Florida Knight’s also picked up more points in the group stages than all the other SWFL clubs combined.

A briliant weekend was crowned on Monday when the U12 Boys won a thrilling final game against Gulf Coast United 1-0. After winning their first game 3-2 against home favorites Clearwater Charges, the boys tied both their remaining games against Lakeland, and FC America to top their group. In a tense battle the U12’s rallied together and produced a moment of soccer genius to win 1-0.

NFM Florida Knights Full Team Summary:

U11 Boys

The North Fort Myers Florida Knight’s boys U11 team played 3 games in the Tampa Labor Day tournament, winning their first game 2-1 against GSA, before going on to draw 2-2 with OCYS purple. They won their last game 4-0 against Brandon FC boys blue but just missed out on qualifying due to goal difference. 

U11 Girls 

The Lady Knight’s U11’s starting with a 4-1 loss to a very impressive Tampa Bay United. They then went on to win their next group game 5-1 against GSA before winning their final group game 4-1 against Celtic FC Florida.

U12 Girls 

NFM U12 girls opened up with a strong 3-2 win against Houston Dynamo Tampa. The girls played some good soccer over the weekend but lost out to good teams from Auburndale (4-1), and local side Clearwater Chargers 2-1. 

U13 Girls

With the #11 and #2 State ranked teams in their group the U13 Lady Knight’s had a tough weekend ahead of them. They started with a brilliant 1-1 draw against FC America. They then went on to win their next two games 2-1 against OCYS Purple and 2-0 against Houston Dynamo Tampa but just missed out on getting to the semi-finals on goal difference. 

U14 Girls 

Faced a very strong Clearwater Chargers in their first game, losing 6-0. The team improved winning their next two group games 3-1 against Nature Coast, and 3-0 against Brandon FC.

U15 Boys

Started off the tournament by scoring 15 goals in their first two games, winning 6-0 and 9-0. In the group decider the team suffered defeat to eventual winners Brandon FC. The U15 boys did progress to the semi-finals where they lost 4-2 against GSA.

U15 Girls 

The U15 Lady Knight’s started off their campaign with a 3-1 win over FC America. After forcing a 1-1 tie against eventual winners of the tournament Fort Lauderdale Select FC, the girls needed a 7-0 win to progress to the semi-finals. After a good display the girls finished strong with a 2-1 win versus Houston Dynamo Tampa and went out on goal differential. 

U16 Girls

Lost all three games in tournament to some very good sides. The girls improved with every game, and were unfortunate not to tie with Clearwater Chargers losing 2-1 in their final group game. 

U17 Boys

The North Fort Myers Florida Knight’s U17 boys team started with a 4-0 defeat to a strong Houston Dynamo Tampa. They then went on to draw 0-0 with Clearwater Chargers, before winning their final group game 2-1 against West Florida Flames.
